TREMEZZO
The lake area in between Ossuccio and Cadenabbia is called "La Tremezzina" named
after Tremezzo, which is located half way between Como and the Northern end of
the lake.
The town extends between the shore and the hilly hinterland at the foot of Monte
Crocione. The lakeside, with its big hotels, lively bars and restaurants, differs
quite a lot from the quiet area in the hills with its small hamlets such as Bolvedro,
Susino, Balogno, Viano, Intignano e Rogaro among olive trees and pastures.

Among the antique sumptuous villas that you find in the Tremezzo area outstands
the world famous Villa Carlotta of the 18 century with its marvellous botanical garden with rare plants and
trees of many kinds. In April and May one can admire the Azalea and Rhododendron
flowering. The villa itself hosts an interesting museum, with a prominent art
collection such as sculptures by Canova and paintings by Hayez. Since more than
10 years, every Friday night during the summer months, an international revue
of chamber music is held in the villa. The splendid public park Olivelli, directly
on the lake, also often hosts interesting events. For more information on Tremezzo
see historical itinerary through Tremezzo.
